Investing in Equitable Ascension into Nonprofit Leadership

Webinar 4 in the Talent Justice Series

Thursday, July 25, 2019

11:00am-12:15pm (PT) / 2:00-3:15pm (ET)

In this webinar we’ll explore Fund the People’s Talent Justice key research findings regarding the dynamics of inequity in transitions to executive leadership . When nonprofits hire people of color and/or those from other historically marginalized groups to succeed long-serving white CEOs, the new leaders are too often set up to fail by their boards and funders. In order to advance intersectional racial equity in the ascension career phase, funders and nonprofits must invest in environments that encourage learning and risk-taking since these are critical for the success of new leaders but are less often available to leaders of color. We will learn  about challenges and promising strategies to better support intersectional racial equity when ascending into executive leadership.

Webinar presenters: Sonia Mañjon, Executive Director, LeaderSpring, Rusty Stahl, President & CEO, Fund the People, and Yolanda Caldera-Durant, Vice President, Fund the People

We’ll hear from Chris Melody Fields Figueredo, Executive Director of the Ballot Strategy Initiative Center; Jonathan Brack, Manager, Capacity Building at Tipping Point Community; and Yolanda Caldera-Durant, Vice President, Fund the People. Ballot Initiative Strategy Center and Tipping Point Community are both featured in the Talent Justice Toolkit.  To access all of the Talent Justice resources, including the full report, executive summary, toolkit, and infographics visit talentjustice.org.
